Cheryl's Mashed Potatoes

Posted by: cmun in

This ubiquitous all time favourite is extremely easy to whip up. Good for a side dish or an entree by itself for kids who are bored of their everyday rice staple. Specially posted for newlywed Danny who requested for the recipe, do note that I've altered the commmon recipe and added my own ingredients for that extra flavourful delight.

INGREDIENTS

1. 10 medium sized yellow potatoes
2. 100 mls whipped cream
3. A dash of pepper
4. 1 tbsp of McCormick Mixed Herbs
5. 1 tbsp of McCormick Garlic Steak seasoning
6. 1 tbsp of salted butter
7. 1/2 tsp salt

METHOD

1. Wash and boil the potatoes with the skin intact in boiling water for 20-25 min or until tender.

2. Drain and remove the skin when it is cooled.

3. Mash potatoes with a potato masher. For a more rich and smooth effect use an electric mixer on low speed after you've mashed it.

4. Add in pepper, mixed herbs, garlic steak seasoning, butter and salt.

5. Gradually beat enough of the cream into the potatoes to make them light and fluffy.

Serves 6 .

TIPS

. Reduce salt to 1/4 tsp if you are serving it with a gravy.
. If you do not have an electric mixer, just mash the potatoes till they're even out and smooth.
. Whipped cream can be substituted with milk. Add more cream/milk if you prefer a creamier texture.
. McCormick's herbs, seasonings are sold in most major supermarkets.
. Whipped cream is placed at the cold storage , usually next to the cheeses and milk.
